Soap is drying to a dog's skin and it can leave residue in the fur, causing itching and dandruff. Soap can also wash off any flea medications, while our soap-free formulas are safe to use.
Are betty & butch products paraben free and sulfate free?
Yes, all of our betty & butch products are paraben and sulfate free because we are absolutely dedicated to only providing safe and gentle products. Parabens basically imitate hormones and have an adverse effect on the endocrine system. Sulfates have also been linked to birth defects. Although these findings have been controversial, we have decided to not use them for the health of our customers.
Do I need to dilute betty & butch shampoo before using?
Yes, betty & butch should be diluted before use by a minimum of 1 part shampoo to 10 parts.
I love how betty & butch products smell, can I use them on myself?
betty & butch products are all human-grade, but are pH-balanced for dogs' more sensitive skin. However, this hasn't stopped some of our human customers from using it.
Can betty & butch products be used with flea control products?
Yes, all of our products are compatible with the popular flea control such as Frontline®.
How often can I bathe my dog in betty & butch shampoo?
We recommend no more than once or twice a week. Dogs have natural skin oils that keep their skin healthy and more frequent bathing can remove too much of their natural skin oils.
My dog has itchy skin. Which of the betty & butch shampoos is best for this?
All of our products since evening primrose oil contains the pain relieving compound phenylalanine and also nourishes both the fur and skin.
Is betty & butch safe to use on my puppy?
Yes, all our products are safe to use on puppies and have been used on puppies aged from 14 weeks in grooming stores.
Why don’t I get much lather when washing my dog with betty & butch shampoo?
An ingredient in shampoos that gives you lots of foam and lather is sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). SLS is not a friendly ingredient. SLS causes irritation to the skin, eyes, and can cause nausea.
